Publishing Your First Post

Getting Started

Once you're logged into the admin, publishing is quick.

In the editor

  1. Click New Post.
  2. Enter a title - the slug fills in automatically (you can edit it).
  3. Pick a category from the dropdown. (Create categories first under Categories.)
  4. Write a meta description of around 150 characters - this is your search-results snippet.
  5. Write the body in Markdown.
  6. Optionally add a hero image and its alt text.
  7. Hit Save.

What happens on save

Your post is written to disk as a Markdown file, and Nano CMS regenerates sitemap.xml and feed.xml automatically so search engines and RSS readers see it straight away.

Not ready to go live? Toggle Draft - the post stays hidden from the public, the sitemap, and the feed, but you can still preview it while logged in.

Want it on the homepage? Mark one post as hero (large, top of the homepage) and others as featured to fill the featured row.
